The Great Outdoors Creativity Challenge
The Great Outdoors Creativity Challenge
The winners have been chosen! Thank you for participating and sharing such inspiring and creative ideas!
Read MoreWith the winter (finally) behind us and warm weather to look forward to, we wanted to encourage you to spend some time outdoors and let your creativity run wild! This challenge is about drawing inspiration from nature and creating something that can continue to enhance a connection with your natural surroundings.
We know the project requirements are quite broad, but we want to see where you can find inspiration and allow you to have creative freedom! We expect to see everything from wind chimes, bird feeders/houses, pots and planters, wood carvings, and so much more! Of course, a Dremel tool must be used in every project.
All experience levels are encouraged to participate! Whether you are just starting to navigate your Dremel tools, or are well on your making journey, this is a challenge for everyone. Please carefully read the submission guidelines below before getting started.
Submission Guidelines:
In order to qualify for a prize in the challenge, here's what you have to do:
- Between May 13 & June 13, imagine, execute and submit your creative project in this Challenge. Tips for entering your submission in the appropriate category:
Choose ‘First-Timer’ if you are new to using Dremel tools (<2 years) and consider yourself a novice maker
Choose ‘Experienced Maker’ if you are familiar with your Dremel tools (>2 years) and have done a few projects in the past
Choose ‘Best Story’ if you have a tale to tell and were feeling particularly inspired
Choose ‘Most Creative’ if you really stretched your imagination for this one
- Include photos of your project! You MUST include a before, in progress, and after photos/videos (that's a minimum of 3 photos if you're counting).
- Tell us about where you found inspiration, your project, and how you used your Dremel tool to make it.
Each submission must meet the following requirements:
- Your project must be something that was inspired by nature and can be enjoyed outdoors.
- Use at least one (1) Dremel tool in the creation of your project
- Submit at least one (1) "before" / "before getting started" photo of your project (your pile of materials before getting started would be a good one)
- Submit at least one (1) in-progress photo of your project
- Submit at least one (1) final photo of your project showing it in use or in it’s new home outside.
- Projects submitted in a previous Maker Studio Challenge are not eligible for this challenge.
Since we still haven't figured out how to teleport from house to house yet, we use these photos as a way to verify that you have completed your project yourself within the Challenge period.
Feel free to submit as many projects as you'd like but make sure to create a separate submission per project.
The Process
The due date for submissions is June 13 at midnight CST. Once all the projects are submitted, a member of the Dremel Maker Studio team will review the submissions to ensure they meet the qualification criteria. All qualifying projects will make it on to the voting round! Members of the maker studio team will be able to vote for their favorite projects from June 14 - 26. Winners from each category will be announced by June 29.
