Lighten Up Challenge
The winners have been chosen! Thank you for participating and spreading the light! ✨
Read MoreLet's brighten the Maker Studio up a bit! 💡
For this challenge, we're tasking you to create something that incorporates a light (and lights up!) Use your Dremel tool to make a new light fixture, or upcycle/refurbish an old one. All forms of light fixtures will be considered for this challenge: flashlights, chandeliers, lanterns, candle holders etc. If it helps to provide light, it will be applicable!
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Between January 21 & February 21, imagine, execute and submit your lighting project in this Challenge.
- Include a before and after photo of your project, as well as an in-progress photo or video (That's a minimum of 3 photos if you're counting)
- Tell us about your light and how you used your Dremel tool to make it.
Each submission must meet the following requirements:
- Your project must incorporate some sort of light source and light up once it's completed.
- Use at least one (1) Dremel tool in the creation of your project
- Submit at least one (1) "before" / "before getting started" photo of your project (your pile of materials before getting started would be a good one)
- Submit at least one (1) in-progress photo of your project (you might need to enlist an assistant)
- Submit at least one (1) final photo of your project.
- Projects submitted in a previous Maker Studio Challenge are not eligible for this challenge.
We still haven't figured out how to travel at the speed of light yet, so we use these photos & videos as a way to verify that you have completed your project yourself within the Challenge period. But we're looking into researching electro-magnetic fields, so maybe one day! 😂
Feel free to submit multiple projects if you feel so inclined!
Safety Notice: Before You Begin
Working with electricity is dangerous. The voltages and amperages in your home electrical system are potentially deadly. If you are not comfortable working with electricity, you should find a qualified electrician to wire your project for you. You will not be penalized or disqualified if you seek assistance in wiring your project.
The Process
Once all the projects are submitted, our panel of Maker Studio Experts will review all of the submissions to ensure that they meet all of the requirements. Then, all members of the Dremel Maker Studio will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite projects. The due date for submissions is February 21st at midnight CST. Community voting will take place from February 25th to March 13th. We'll announce the winners by March 18th.
