Green Thumb Challenge
Green Thumb Challenge
The winners have been chosen! Thank you for helping to grow the Maker Studio!
Read MoreDo you have a green thumb or wish you did? Then this Challenge is for you!
This challenge is all about building or creating something that could be used to grow plants or vegetables in. The project requirements are quite broad - we expect to see everything from homemade garden boxes to delicate air plant terrariums, and of course, a Dremel tool must be used in every project. Please carefully read the submission guidelines below before getting started - we have changed the photo requirements for this challenge and you don't want to miss out!
Submission Guidelines:
In order to qualify for a prize in the challenge, here's what you have to do:
- Between April 9 & May 9, submit your project using the challenge intake form
- Include the finished and in-progress photos of your project
- Tell us about your process and how you made your planter
Each submission must meet the following requirements:
- Your project must be something that can hold dirt, water and a plant of some sort - think garden box, flower planter, or terrarium. Whether you can keep that plant alive or not is not a requirement in the Challenge 😉
- Use at least one (1) Dremel tool in the creation of your project
- Submit at least one (1) "before" / "before getting started" photo of your project (your pile of materials before getting started would be a good one)
- Submit at least one (1) in-progress photo of your project
- Submit at least one (1) final photo of your project showing it in use (if you've planted seeds that aren't going to sprout in time, please show us those seeds in the dirt!)
Since we still haven't figured out how to teleport from house to house yet, we use these photos as a way to verify that you have completed your project yourself within the Challenge period.
Feel free to submit as many projects as you'd like but make sure to create a separate submission per project.
The Process
Once all the projects are submitted, all members of the Dremel Maker Studio will have the opportunity to review the submissions and vote for their favorite projects. The due date for submissions is May 9th at midnight CST. Our team will review all of the submissions to make sure they meet the requirements and create a shortlist of our favorites, and then voting will run from May 14th to May 30th. Winners will be announced by June 1st.

- 1st Place: $250 Visa gift card
