Creative Carving Challenge 🎃
Creative Carving Challenge 🎃
The winners have been chosen! Thank you for participating and making this challenge great.
Read MoreWe know there are many carvers in the Maker Studio that flex your skills in a variety of mediums, but have you ever tried using your cordless Dremel rotary tools on a pumpkin?
CHALLENGE BRIEF
This is a quick challenge that will conclude before the end of October, so if you haven't picked out the perfect pumpkin or gourd yet, we recommend visiting your local pumpkin patch to find one!
In this virtual pumpkin carving contest, you'll need a pumpkin, and your cordless Dremel rotary tool to carve your favorite design. Enlist an assistant to snap a photo or film a quick video clip of you carving your pumpkin (we need to see this for verification purposes.) and submit your creative carving to the Maker Studio before midnight CST October 24th.
Submission Guidelines:
In order to qualify for a prize in this challenge, here's what you have to do:
- Between October 4th and October 24th, submit your carving using the Challenge Intake form
- Include a before and after photo of your pumpkin as well as an in-progress photo or video
- Tell us about your carving process and how you chose your design.
Each submission must meet the following requirements:
- You must carve a pumpkin (or other similar vegetable... We'll continue to reference pumpkins, but other varieties of gourds and squash would also apply!)
- Use at least one (1) cordless Dremel rotary tool in the creation of your project
- Submit at least one (1) "before" / "before getting started" photo of your pumpkin
- Submit at least one (1) verification photo or video of you using your Dremel tool to carve your pumpkin (This is just to prove it's really you doing the carving... you'll probably need to enlist an assistant to capture this)
- Submit at least one (1) final photo of your carving, lit up or not (or both!)
Since we still haven't figured out how to time travel from house to house yet, we use these photos & videos as a way to verify that you have completed your project yourself within the Challenge period.
Feel free to submit as many pumpkins as you'd like but make sure to create a separate submission per carving.
The Process
Once all the carvings are submitted, all members of the Dremel Maker Studio will have the opportunity to review the submissions and vote for their favorite projects. The due date for submissions is October 24th at midnight CST. Our team will take a day to review all of the submissions to make sure they meet the requirements, and then voting will run from October 26th to November 7th.
