We are pleased to be continue our series on Maker Studio member profiles, and this week we had the chance to catch up with Zada (Tracy Mayers) to get to know him a little better! Read on to learn more about Zada and the projects he tackles with Dremel tools.
Why did you join Maker Studio?
I joined because I love Dremel tools, they help me out on a lot of projects and the Maker Studio looked compelling. I also wanted to see what other people were doing with Dremel tools.
What's your favorite part of the Maker Studio community?
Seeing what other people are making and joining in on Challenges.
What is the coolest thing you’ve learned or made using a Dremel product?
The coolest that I have made would be the carving that I am holding in the picture.
How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?
I am a heavy equipment technician by trade. But I have more of a passion for working with wood, doing crafts and home improvement.
What types of projects are your favorite ones to complete? Crafts? Home upgrades? Something else?
Carving and crafty projects are my favourites.
What is your favorite Dremel product? How has it helped with your projects?
My favourite is all of them, but if I had to pick one it would be the 4300. It works great with the flex shaft and on its own. The flex shaft on the 4300 is my favourite for carving.
What's the best project you have completed and how did you accomplish it?
The best project that I have completed would be installing our kitchen cabinets, it was accomplished by figuring out the layout that we wanted, the type of cabinets that we wanted, ordering them and taking the time to make sure everything fit the way that they should. The Dremel Multi-Max helped a lot with fitting everything.
What's the most difficult project you have tackled?
My kitchen cabinets
If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you do? Why?
Build my own house, I actually designed a house for my high school shop teacher and would love to design and build my own.
What’s the next Dremel product on your wishlist?
I would love to have the laser cutter or one of the 3D printers
What's the best advice that anyone has ever given you?
If you get upset or frustrated about something, walk away and take a few minutes to relax. When you return everything look a lot different will come into focus
What’s your favorite TV show or movie right now?
My favourite would be NCIS.
What's your all time favorite food?
Pretty much anything that my lovely wife makes.
